• Region II Wrestling Championship

    This past weekend wrestlers Trevon Davis and Cody Simpson won the Region II Wrestling Championships for their respective weight classes. Nine other wrestlers qualified for the Upper State Tournament that will be held February 17-18:

  • Win over JL Mann

    Tuesday, January 24,  the wrestling team ended the regular season with a win over JL Mann 44-17.
     
    113-Alex Spencer won 10-0
    120-Tre Davis won 7-0
    126-Lane Ryals won by Forfeit
    132-Dalton Starnes won 7-0
    138-Charlie Conner won by Pin
    145-Drew Ryals lost 0-8

    The region tournament will be Saturday, January 28 at Mauldin H.S.  Wrestlers must place in the top 5 to move on to the Upper State Tournament held at Byrnes on Febuary 17-18.

  • JV State Championship

    Congratulations to Diontre Hill and Cody Lyles.  They both placed third in the JV State Championships over the January 20-21 weekend.

  • County Champions

    This weekend the wrestling team had two County Champions and one runner-up.  Freshman Lane "Leroy" Ryals won the 126 lb. Spartanburg County Championship in a double over-time victory.  Ben Clark dominated the heavy weight competition pinning his opponent in the final match and earning his first County title.  Cody Simpson finished 2nd in the 152 lb. weight class and Charlie Conner placed 4th at 138 lbs. 
     
    The team will travel to JL Mann Tuesday, January 24, 2012 or the final Region II match.  The Region II tournament will be this Saturday at Mauldin H.S.  Wrestlers must place in the top 5 to move on to the Upper State tournament.

  • Lost to Riverside

    The Rebels lost to Riverside last night 42-24 (18 points in forfeits).  The Rebels defeated TL Hanna 50-13

  • Woodruff Invitational

    This past Saturday the wrestling team placed third in the Woodruff Invitational.
     
    Alex Spencer, Lane Ryals and Cody Simpson placed second.  Ben Clark placed third.

    Diontre Hill will compete in the JV State Championship this Saturday after winning both the Hillcrest and Byrnes JV Qualifying tournaments.

    Last night the wrestling team lost a close match to Mauldin 39-36.  The Rebels had 5 opportunities in 4 different matches to change the outcome of the match but failed to capitalize.

  • Match against Mauldin Tonight

    The wrestling team will host Mauldin tonight at Byrnes H.S.  Varsity Start time is 6:00 PM. 

    There are a few preliminary matches scheduled for the following wrestlers that will take place before the varsity match:

    Malik Williams
     
    We will try to start preliminary matches by 5:15.

    The wrestling team will host Dorman and Hillcrest tonight and will feature Dorman and Hillcrest wrestling against Byrnes and Riverside.

  • Byrnes's defeat over Woodruff

    Last night the Byrnes Wrestling team defeated Woodruff 40-21.  The team spotted Woodruff 12 points in forfeits but finished with a convincing win.

  • North Henderson Invitational Results

    Congratulations to Cody Simpson, Lane Ryals, and Alex Spencer who placed 2nd, 2nd  and 3rd respectively in the North Henderson Knight Invitational this past weekend.  Also, Diontre Hill placed 1st in the JV 152 lb. tournament.

    The wrestling team will compete tonight, November 28, against Greer and Laurens at home.  Start time is 6:00 PM.
