Volleyball Scrimmages at Nation Ford

Last night the Volleyball team traveled to Nation Ford to play in 5 scrimmages.  Each scrimmage lasted 30 minutes so the scores look a little different (see below).

Coach Katie Boyd says, "Due to the long trip and not much warm up time, the team lost the first 25-28 to Northwestern."  Morgan Allen, Jr, led the way in assists with 6.  Lauren Ziegler, Sr, and Kirsten McCraw, So, led in kills with 3 each.  Lauren also blocked a great game and finished with 2 blocks.   

The team picked it up in the second scrimmage versus York and won 45-25.  Rachel Schell, Jr, Charrion Morgan, Jr, and Kristen Dodge, Jr, all had 2 kills, contributing to the win.  Caroline Shin, Jr, passed the ball well and picked up 5 digs. 

The team kept rolling in the third game against Clover winning 38-29.  Hannah Fisher, So, played great defense as a defensive specialist with 8 digs.  Kirsten McCraw, So, hit and served well with 5 kills and 2 aces.  Kristen Dodge, Jr, and Morgan Allen, Jr, both had 7 assists.  Kristen also had 2 aces and 4 kills. 

In the fourth game, the team played a very strong Nation Ford team and won 41-40 on an ace serve by Sophomore Kirsten McCraw.  She rushed back to the end line to serve as time ran down.  Lauren Ziegler, Sr, and Morgan Allen, Jr, both picked up 3 kills and 1 ace.  Morgan Allen and Kristen Dodge, Jr, both set 4 assists.  Caroline Shin, Jr, came up with 7 digs.  

The last game against Fort Mill was a back and forth game with a lost 34-42.  Caroline Shin, Jr, had another strong showing at the libero position with 8 digs.  Kirsten McCraw, So, had a great back row game with 7 digs and 5 aces.  Morgan Allen, Jr, set a great game with 6 assists.  Lauren Ziegler, Sr, played well at the net with 5 kills and 1 block. 

Come to the Byrnes Invitational this Saturday!  Multiple local teams will play, and it will start at 8:30 a.m.
