For the first time in many, many years , the Byrnes boys tennis team clinched a playoff spot, despite losing to Boiling Springs 4-3. The loss left us tied with them for the final playoff position in the region. The tiebreaker is total number of games won and we won that by a score of 153-117.
Byrnes winners were Jacob Chesney and James McVey in singles and Braashad Long and Joey Wilson in doubles

The Byrnes varsity and junior varsity tennis teams defeated Hillcrest yesterday by scores of 6-1 and 3-2 respectively.
Varsity winners
Singles: #1 Jacob Chesney, #2 Austin Green, #3 Will Fortner & #4 James McVey
Doubles: #1 Chesney/Green, #2 Braashad Long/Joey Wilson
Junior Varsity winners
Singles: Balen Walker & Josh Nguyen

The Boys Tennis team played two very tough region opponents, in incredible wind at JL Mann on April 12 and in nice weather at home against Riverside on the 13th. We lost to both teams 6-1. The following were our winners:
v. JL Mann - #1 doubles, Jacob Chesney and Austin Green
v. Riverside - #4 singles, James McVey
James McVey's match was one of our best individual performances of the season, as he beat a player who had beat him 6-0, 6-1, the first time the two of them played a few weeks ago.

The tennis team traveled to Easley and defeated them 5-2. Singles winners were Austin Green, James McVey and Jordan Seppala. Doubles winners were the teams of Jacob Chesney/Austin Green and Braashad Long/Joey Wilson.
JV lost 4-2, but singles winners were Zach Riley and Jacob Bembenek.

Greer 4, Byrnes 3
Down a couple of players due to travel and illness, Byrnes nevertheless gave Greer a good fight before losing in #1 doubles to get the loss. Winners for Byrnes were singles players Jacob Chesney, James McVey and Joey Wilson.

Byrnes competed well, but lost to #1 Dorman 7-0.

The Byrnes boys tennis team gets a region win!
The varsity team defeated Hillcrest by the score of 5-2 and the junior varsity won 4-2.
Varsity winners in singles were Austin Green, James McVey and Joey Wilson. In doubles, winners were Braashad Long/Balen Walker and Green/Wilson.
Junior Varsity winners in singles were Zach Riley, Josh Nguyen, and Devon Kinnunen. In doubles, winners were Davone Terry and Jaylen Hood.

Boys Tennis Loses to Spartanburg
In spite of some excellent efforts, Byrnes lost to Spartanburg and their USC commitment #1 player Ben Barnette 6-0 yesterday. We enjoyed being undefeated for 24 hours!

Tennis Rebels Defeat Union County
The Boys Tennis team defeated Union County 4-2 to open the regular season. Singles winners were Jacob Chesney, Austin Green and Jordan Seppala. In doubles, Joey Wilson and Braashad Long got the win. Please congratulate these boys!

The Byrnes Tennis Team started off it's Jamboree with a win against Chapman. Jacob Chesney (1), Austin Green (2), Will Fortner (3), James McVey (4), Jordan Seppela (5), and Joey Wilson/ Baylin Walker (2 Doubles) pulled out victories.
The team defeated Greer in the second match up of the Jamboree. Jacob Chesney, Austin Green, James McVey, Joey Wilson, and the team of Braashad Long/ Jordan Seppela won. Joey's match was a very close one, but he ended up winning number 5 singles 6-7 7-6 11-9. The number one doubles team (Joey Wilson/Jacob Chesney) ended with a tie at 8-8.
