Byrnes Places 9th at Lady Thoroughbred Invitational
In a tournament that showcased many of the top teams across the state, the Lady Rebel golf team held their own. The Lady Thoroughbred was held at Woodside Plantation on the Wisteria Course designed by Rees Jones, which is the home course for South Aiken.
The course played 5460 yards and proved a tough test for the field. Abby Driscoll led the way for the Lady Rebels with a round of 86, who played her round with the top players from South Aiken and AC Flora (Columbia). Her score was good enough for an individual finish of 22nd among 75 golfers.
Hailey Mitchem provided a 92 for the Lady Rebels while playing in the five spot. Mitchem attributes her success to "staying away from the big numbers," and she finished 35th. Rounding out the scores for the Lady Rebels were Blake Hodges 97, Jessica Morris 100, and Jessica Link 109.
The Lady Rebels are back in action on Thursday at Village Greens against Chapman.
