Lauren Duggar will be named Freshman Female Athlete of the Year. She is a member of the varsity softball and basketball teams. She is also a 2nd degree black belt in karate and is ranked #1 in the nation and #3 in the world for girls ages 14-17 in point fighting. Lauren has a 4.767 GPA and is ranked #7 out of 600 in her freshman class.
Cheyenne Griffin, a senior at Byrnes High School, was named the recipient of the $1500 Gene Lee Memorial Scholarship awarded to one senior softball player each year. Cheyenne Griffin, Samantha Vaughn, and Caroline Shin were all name to the All-Tournament team. In softball news the Lady Rebels won the Lady Rebel Invitational
Championship. Casey Owen and Cheyenne Griffin were named Co-MVPs of the tournament and Carly Brummett made the All-Tournament team.

Cheyenne Griffin and Samantha Vaughn were named to the 2011 North/ South All-Star game to be held June 14-16 at USC-Aiken
Cheyenne Griffin, Samantha Vaughn, Casey Owen, and Lauren Ward were all named to the Region II-4A all-region team.

The softball banquet will be held on Thursday, May 26th at Poplar Springs Baptist Church starting at 6:00. Tickets for the banquet are $10 and should be purchased from Coach Aiken (BHS & BFA), Coach Berry (FCMS) or Coach Sheriff (DRHill) by Friday, May 20th.
Congratulations to Cheyenne Griffin for being selected to the 2011 North/South Softball All-Star game at USC-Aiken June 14th-16th.

The Lady Rebels softball team defeated Laurens 8-6 on Monday night to stay alive in the playoffs. Senior Cheyenne Griffin pitched a great game, striking out 5 and scattering 10 hits over 7 innings. Griffin also had a double and scored a run. Sophomore, Lauren Ward opened up the 1st inning with a 3-run home-run. Ward finished the night 2 for 3 with a double, home-run, and 4 RBI. Freshman, MacKenzie Reese also hit a solo homer in the game. Sophomore Caroline Shin had a two out, two-RBI single in the top of the 7th to give the Lady Rebels the final runs they would need to hold off a Laurens rally in the final inning. Senior Samantha Vaughn was also 2 for 4 on the night.
Byrnes will travel to Hillcrest on Wednesday for the District Championship, where the Lady Rebels will need to win two in order to advance to the Upper-state bracket. The first game will begin at 6:30.

The Lady Rebels defeated Region 3 champion Clover 8-3 last night in round 1 of the state playoffs. Senior Cheyenne Griffin was the winning pitcher with 4 strikeouts. Griffin also had a 2 run home-run in the 7th. Other leading hitters for the Lady Rebels were: Lauren Ward 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and Bailey Pearson 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.
The Lady Rebels next playoff game will be at Hillcrest Friday night at 6:30.
Congratulations to the Varsity Lady Rebels Softball Team for their 12-2 victory over Dorman to insure a spot in the state playoffs starting on Thursday, April 28. Senior Cheyenne Griffin picked up the win for the Lady Rebels. Leading hitters were: Casey Owen - lead- off HR in the 1st inning, Cheyenne Griffin - 3 for 3 with a HR and 4 RBI; Samantha Vaughn - 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored; and Lauren Duggar - 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. The Lady Rebels also defeated Laurens 15-8. Freshman, Bailey Pearson picked up the win for the Rebels. Leading hitters were: Samantha Vaughn 2 for 3, with 2 stolen bases and 4 runs scored; Bailey Pearson 2 for 3; Caroline Shin 2 for 3, with a double and 3 RBI; and Lauren Duggar 2 for 4.
The Lady Rebel JV Softball Team defeated Hillcrest 6-5 with Regan Messenger the winning pitcher. Loren Calvin had a base hit and scored on a hit by Carson Earnhardt to win the game. The Lady Rebels also competed in the Crecent JV Invitational Tournament finishing with a record of 2-1. The Lady Rebels defeated BHP 20-0 with Kate Burnette earning the win. The JV Lady Rebels defeated Crescent 5-3 with a Hayley Thornhill double to score 2 runs. They closed out their season with an overall record of 16 -7.

After two tough losses to JL Mann and Hillcrest last week, the Lady Rebels rebounded last night with a 12-2 victory over Dorman to insure a spot in the state playoffs starting next week. Senior, Cheyenne Griffin picked up the win for the Lady Rebels. Leading hitters were: Casey Owen - lead- off HR in the 1st inning , Cheyenne Griffin - 3 for 3 with a HR and 4 RBI; Samantha Vaughn - 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored; and Lauren Duggar - 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and an RBI.

The Lady Rebels lost to Dorman on Thursday night 2-1, the Lady Rebels JV Team defeated the Cavaliers 10-5.

The varsity softball team defeated Riverside 5 - 0 on Wednesday night. Cheyenne Griffin was the winning pitcher, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 7. Leading hitters for the Lady Rebels were: Senior, Cheyenne Griffin - 2 for 4, with a double and 3 RBI; Freshman, MacKenzie Reese with a triple, and Sophomore, Lauren Ward with a double.
The JV team also defeated Riverside 13-3.
3/22/11
The varsity softball team defeated Hillcrest 6-4 last night in a huge region game. Senior, Cheyenne Griffin got the win for the Lady Rebels while going 3 for 4 at the plate, with a double and 3 RBI. Freshman, Bailey Pearson was also 2 for 4 at the plate, with 2 RBI.
The JV softball team defeated Hillcrest 5 -3 last night. Shae Reini was 2 for 4 with a double to score the go ahead run in the 7th inning and Haley White made some outstanding catches in leftfield, while also going 2 for 3 at the plate.
The Lady Rebels (both JV and Varsity) are at Riverside on Wednesday night and at Dorman Thursday, with the varsity starting at 6 and the JV following the completion of the varsity game.
Casey Owen has been named the Greer Citizen Player of the Week for her performance in the Lady Rebel Invitational Tournament. Ihn 4 games work, Casey played an errorless shortstop for the Lady Rebels, while going 8 for 16 at the plate, with 2 HR's, 3 doubles, and 8 RBI.

The Lady Rebels will host the Daniel Lions at Byrnes in scrimmage game on Friday March 4th at 5pm.
Lady Rebels advance to the semi-finals with a win over Region II-AAAA rival Boiling Springs Bulldogs 4-1. The Lady Rebels will play the Gaffney Indians at 5pm on Thursday with the winner facing the winner of Union County and Chapman game.
