The JV and Varsity team both picked up wins last night versus Broome and Spartanburg.
Against Broome, the JV team won an exciting match 2-1, winning the first game 25-19, losing the second game 25-22 but pulling out the third game 15-13. Key players were Jessica Sanders, Fr, with 4 aces and solid setting, Kelly Robinson, So, with 5 aces and Bri Collins, Fr, wtih 2 aces and 4 kills. Victoria Mort, So, and Anna McCarthy, So, added one kill each. Anna also had several digs and played solid defense.
Against Spartan High, Anna Brockman, Fr, had 3 kills and 2 aces that helped put the Rebels on top. Brooke Waldrop, 8th, had 2 aces and 2 kills while Kelly Robinson, So, added 2 kills. Anna McCarthy, So, again added solid defense along with Taylor Hickum, 8th, and Sydney Dempsey, Fr.
The Varsity team beat both Broome and Spartanburg in two sets, (Broome: 25-22, 25-21, Spartanburg: 25-23, 25-21). In the first match against Broome, Lauren Ziegler, Sr, dominated the net with 10 kills and 1 block. Kirsten McCraw, So, was hitting and digging well with 8 kills and 7 digs. Caroline Shin, Jr, played great defense with 10 digs. Morgan Allen, Jr, set the ball well with 13 assists. Kristen Dodge, Jr, had a solid all-around performance with 12 assists, 8 kills, and 3 aces.
In the match against Spartanburg, Kristen Dodge, Jr, had a double-double with 10 kills and 14 assists. Morgan Allen, Jr, had a strong setting performance with 14 assists. Lauren Ziegler, Sr, played well again with 9 kills and 1 block. Kirsten McCraw, So, hit and defended well with 6 kills and 12 digs. Caroline Shin, Jr, led the back row again with 12 digs.
The Lady Rebels will have their first region match tomorrow night as they host Mauldin. The Lady Rebels also moved up in the SC prepcountry Coaches Poll and currently ranked 7th in AAAA.
