The Byrnes Rebels won the 2011 Battle of The Border Shootout at Landrum over Christmas Break. In the first round, the Rebels defeated Spartanburg Christian Academy 63-51. Keith Anderson led the way with 15 points. Shy Williams and Tavin Richardson had 13 and 10 points respectively. In the second round, they defeated Blacksburg by a score of 69-37. The Rebels had a total team effort with freshman Tavin Richardson leading the way with 14 points and Junior center Charlendez Brooks chipped in with 10 points and 10 rebounds. In the Championship game, the Rebels beat the Landrum Cardinals with a buzzer beating 15 footer by Shy Williams. Williams led the way with 10 points. Keith Anderson, Malik Brewton, and Syverio Jones had 9 points each.
On January 3rd, the Rebels resumed region play by going on the road to Boiling Springs. They played tough defense and pushed the ball and won the game 72-59. The Rebels had a balanced scoring attack to push their overall record to 6-5 and region record to 2-1. The scoring broke down as follows: Miller 4, Morton 6, Shy Williams 17, Tavin Richardson 13, Keith Anderson 10, Norman 2, Brown 6, Jones 8, Brooks 6. The Rebels next Region game is Friday (January 6th) at home versus Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m..
