We are looking forward to a great 2012 baseball season here at Byrnes High School. The recent success has brought the Rebels a 2011 Region Championship, along with back to back District and Upperstate Championships. There are good things happening with the baseball program at Byrnes High School. This year will be the first year we have a C-team designated for 7th and 8th graders. We have also had many upgrades to our field from the new scoreboard to the new bleachers.
I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with such a great group of players and coaches. The baseball team has worked hard in the weight room this offseason with the help of Coach Srock, and as a result has seen significant gains in strength. Our motto this year is “Finish." The goal is to have no regrets at the end of the year. Our team is expected to be disciplined, leaders, hard workers, STUDENT/athlete, and a good example of what it means to be a REBEL! Our players believe that in order for us to obtain the goals that we set for ourselves we must all do our part, no matter how big or small. We must all “Push the Rock!”
The Rebels baseball team had 4 seniors sign Letter of Intents to play college baseball. Steven Duggar will be attending Clemson University next year. Zach Bridgeman has signed with USC-Sumter. Luke Hostetler will be a Crusader next year with North Greenville University. Alex Cunningham will be moving to Myrtle Beach, SC to play for Coastal Carolina University. We are proud of all four of these guys, and we are looking forward to seeing a couple other seniors play baseball at the next level as well.
